Cooper Square Hotel

Rising over the Bowery, the Cooper Square Hotel is a tall slab of glass glued to an existing brick tenement. Nice amenities: a flute of champagne at check-in, uber-comfy beds and a bookshelf stocked with interesting reading: Isaac Bashevis Singer to Alcoholics Anonymous. You’re within shouting distance of the New Museum and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, cheap shopping on Broadway (Uniqlo, Zara, H&M, Desigual and Topshop) and around the corner from Russ and Daughters and Yonah Shimmel’s knish shop. (Tip: They ship! Fax an order for cocktail size knishes for your next party). The second floor terrace bar is a welcome retreat on a hot afternoon and the restaurant is Govind Armstrong’s Table 8. Go to Quikbook.com for the best rates. Dogs welcome.
