La Belle Aurore

Brunch scares my husband (bringing to mind vats of congealed eggs and greasy sausage) so Sundays at our house typically feature Howard’s Bialys and the Times. Promises of pancakes with fresh maple syrup and egg burritos finally got the family out of the house for breakfast at La Belle Aurore. Their seasonal, farm-to-table menu extends to brunch: winter vegetable hash (swiss chard, butternut squash, roasted turnips, potatoes, spinach and onions) topped with a perfectly poached egg and a side of rye toast from Fabled Foods, is a healthy and delicious indulgence.
Lacking restraint (so what else is new?), I couldn’t pass up a dish that incorporated ALL my favorite foods: chunks of Niman Ranch bacon, potato and blue cheese in a puff pastry tart. Share it. Brunch served Friday through Sunday, 8am to 1pm.
