Get Moving

My husband loves to dance and he’s got rhythm, but he does tend to fling me wantonly around the floor. I think it’s high time for a lesson or two. No more excuses: Fred Astaire Dance Studio  just opened in Old Saybrook. Take advantage of their introductory offer: three lessons for only $10. Budding Belly Dancers can firm their abdominals during the beginner class at the Morgan School in Clinton (but where, exactly, does one find the outfit?). Miss your toe shoes and tutus? Eastern CT Ballet offers ballet classes for adults.
Winter sports help make the season bearable. Grab rental skis and hop on the Action Sports Ski Bus, then sign up for a ski lesson when you get to the mountain. The Ski Bus heads north to Killington, Mt. Snow or Okemo every weekend through mid-March. Perfect your cross-overs with a private figure skating lesson with Teisha Potvin Coale, (she got me jumping again, if an inch of air counts!). Champions Skating Center in Cromwell and Norwich Ice Rink offer group lessons for adults and kids, and Dayton Arena at Connecticut College (860-439-2575)offers public skating on Sundays from 2 – 4.
