Brasserie Pip at the Copper Beech

If you’re the sort to judge a restaurant by its bread, you’ve already been to Pip’s. The housemade baguette (served in its own wee paper sac) is a crunchy outside, chewy inside wonder. I’m a big fan of Chef Tyler Anderson’s cooking in the fine dining room at the Copper Beech, but the Brasserie has benefited from his sure hand. A Monday night under deadline with no internet had me stealing wifi at the cozy copper bar, happily making my way through seared cod resting in a puddle of squab jus with fresh spring morels, a rosti potato cake and surrounded by a few perfect clams. Good to know: the bar is a welcoming spot for solo dining, not the easiest thing to find on the Shoreline.
