L&E Restaurant

I’ve been a fan of Everett Reid’s cooking since L&E took over the space from the venerable Restaurant du Village. While we occasionally have a meal in the dining room, usually we opt for the intimate French 75 Bar and less dear bar menu. For me, the dining room retained its previous life as a special occasion spot, where you had to get dressed up and speak in hushed tones (not my forte!). Well, no longer. In two short weeks, L&E transformed the room into a convivial and yes, slightly boisterous, bistro.
Our favorite bartender, Michael Bellesiles, is happily ensconced at a second bar that stretches along one side of the room, cozy tables fill the rest. We visited on re-opening night and were cheered to find a packed room of happy diners, feasting on Everett’s riff on French bistro classics: Coq au Vin, Daube de Boeuf, Steak Frites, Pan Seared Skate or choose from the imaginative burger menu. It’s decidedly less fancy and a lot more fun. Still to come? A fine dining room and outdoor roof deck on the second floor. Can’t wait.

Restaurant L&E is Linda and Everett Reid’s third restaurant venture together. They have been partners since 1985 when they opened American Seasons Restaurant on Nantucket Island, where their innovative menu captured the attention of national press.
