The Upstairs Kitchen, Chester Do you ever fantasize about living alone in a tidy flat, sans husband, kids, dog, goldfish, STUFF? I do. And I recently saw the perfect one. It’s the home of Upstairs Kitchen, Sarah Jansen’s cooking classes. Picture the kitchen of your dreams, all white slab marble and stainless steel with an ingenious farm table that attaches to the island and pulls out to seat 12, a cabin like bedroom with tons of built in storage, an office that fits not much more than a desk and cozy living area off said kitchen with a fireplace. It’s perfect. And so was the cooking class, featuring a Harvest menu by chef, yoga teacher and integrative nutritionist Emrys Tetu. This class was hands on; we were provided a cutting board and knife and chopped our way through Cabbage Apple Salad, Kale and Sweet Potato Soup, Acorn Squash with Sage Pesto and an incredible vegan Sweet Potato Pie with Pecan Crust that I’m adding to my Thanksgiving repertoire this year. Emrys’ charisma and Sarah’s elegant digs lent a festive Girl’s Night Out atmosphere and we all sat down to a fabulous dinner together. You may click here for recipes.
