We love to hear about young (and local) entrepreneurs, and this teen’s idea is pure genius. Andrew Epprecht, hailing from Madison and a junior at Hotchkiss School, had been mulling business ideas for a while. He was excited by the crowd-sourcing trend but needed to figure out a product that had legs. A friend mentioned the proliferation of stylish men’s socks on the market and bingo! The perfect thing: one size fits all, and easy to ship and stock. Noble Stitch was born with a Kickstarter campaign and quickly met its funding goal. Now in production, the socks are made of bamboo, an eco-friendly, renewable resource that has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties (less smelly socks? Good idea!). They’re warm in winter and cool in summer. But here’s the best part: you can design your own. Visit the website and submit your design, the community votes, and if your sock is chosen, you get design credit and share in the profits! Or simply shop the site for socks and support one local kid’s vision. $14.95 a pair. Also available locally at Khaki and Black in Madison.
