New Haven / Shop / Tuckerman, From Dirt to Shirt!

Tuckerman, From Dirt to Shirt!

Years ago, I expanded my women’s clothing store into menswear. It seemed so simple compared to women’s fashion: just shirts, pants, jackets, tees and a few ties. And unlike women’s ever evolving trends, menswear doesn’t change much through the seasons, perhaps making plodding progress toward a narrower lapel or cuffed pant. But that doesn’t mean men’s fashion doesn’t have its complexities. Small details become hyper important: peak lapel or double breasted? Button down or spread collar? And if you (speaking to the male reader here!), or your mate is anything like mine, you have very distinct preferences. It’s not often I have the chance to bust out my knowledge of menswear minutiae, so it was such fun to gab with the couple behind Tuckerman, a new collection of men’s dress shirts based out of New Haven. These Yale School of Management grads saw an opportunity in high quality, environmentally friendly, organic cotton men’s dress shirts. Using fabrics woven in Italian mills especially for them, the shirts are stitched up in third generation factories in Fall River, MA. While the manufacturing is old school, the collection is entirely up to date, sporting slim fits, a modified spread collar and a sweet little detail of lime green stitching on the buttons and top buttonhole. And besides the light footprint and organic bent, these are, quite frankly, beautiful shirts. An interesting and useful gift for Valentine’s Day perhaps? Tuckerman has offered our readers 15% off with code Elist15 through 2/14/16.

p.s  And here’s the ultimate stamp of approval: Mr. Picky (my husband) ordered a few unbeknownst to me, and loved them.
