We Went to Weekapaug! Beloved yoga teacher, Ava Tyler, and I have been throwing the idea around about a yoga retreat for years now. We had a similar vision: a few days of yoga and relaxation without the sense of deprivation (Where’s dessert? What, no wine?) usually associated with these sort of getaways. Hey, sometimes a girl needs a bit of chocolate after practice! We set our sights on The Weekapaug Inn, a Relais and Chateaux resort an easy hour’s drive from most Shoreline points. Seventeen of us convened there last week for a few days of yoga bliss. For my first crack at tour operator, everything went remarkably smoothly (thanks to the warm and welcoming team at The Inn) and we loved every minute. Two all-level yoga classes a day, plus glorious beach walks and snuggling up in the cozy Searoom with a book, enormous breakfasts (even the bagels and lox are made in house!), gourmet dinners, spa treatments at the Ocean House, and raiding the guest pantry nightly for warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, made for a memorable three days. We were sad to leave but came home stronger, centered, and a lot more zen! This just may be an annual event. Stay tuned.
