CT River Valley Mural at Black Whale Antiques

When I arrived on the Shoreline almost 20 years ago, it was an antique lovers’ haven. Most towns boasted a bunch of shops. The internet has decimated the industry, but I still like to sniff out a good one for a Sunday outing. Black Whale in East Haddam is a fun destination, especially If you’re on the hunt for an early American tavern table or slant front desk, you’ll find it here, along with owner Tom Rose’s quirky and cool dog portraits. On my last visit, I was mesmerized by this mural of the Connecticut River Valley painted directly on a wall in the shop. Murals are making a comeback and you can have one, too.
