Curds and Whey, Haddam

I was saddened to hear that Curds and Whey, the visionary cheese shop in East Haddam had closed it’s doors, but delighted to discover they had moved to new quarters, right next to the Cooking Company in Haddam. Perhaps a bit out of the way for many of us, but worth the schlep: take out a lunch or dinner from the Cooking Company, then head next door for a selection of the best European and American cheeses (including my current obsession, gooey Burrata), artisanal Creminelli salumi, Lark’s ridiculous shortbread cookies, Howard’s bread and a selection of oils and vinegars (bacon, black truffle and jalapeno oil, paired with cherry, cranberry and an 18 year-old-balsamic that's sweeter than candy). It’s Darcy’s modern farmhouse aesthetic that will seduce you into buying one of everything in the shop. For foodies, this is a don't miss.
