Too often a new shop comes to town that just seems to be a mashup of other stores in the area. The old retailer in me just wants to scream, “Do your own thing! Find new stuff that isn’t already in six stores on Main Street! Just say no to Alex and Ani!” Not so with Lily Juliet. Instead, the eagle-eyed owners march to their own beat. And you’ll find lots of stuff that I’ve written about on the-e-list: Soludos espadrilles for men and women, those Pendleton beach towels and my indispensable and handy oversized calendar pad by Russel and Hazel. Love the hand-beaded headbands from ex-Alexander McQueen designer, Deepa Gurnani and Yosi Samra's fold-up neon ballet flats. While you’ll be tempted to stock up on goodies for yourself, the place is a gift giver's dream: enamel trays and bud vases, lots of little treats for men (Man Soap!) and perfect smocked baby frocks. A room of artisanal products from Brooklyn is filling up and a second retail space behind the store will be used for special events and trunk shows. Go have a look for yourself and just try to come away empty-handed.
