Everyone has their danger zone and for me it’s Lori Warner Gallery: Carrie Gustafson's modern handblown glass, those sturdy Libeco linens (the dish towel IS the perfect hostess gift), Ann Lightfoot’s collection of statement jewelry. And then there’s Mandy Leiva. Her delicate semi-precious stone earrings and wispy “scatter” necklaces would make ME happy on mother's day, but it's these stackable rings, inset with natural diamond, sapphire, tourmaline and garnet that I've been coveting for years now. Art school and five years spent working with the prestigious designers at Ten Thousand Things prepped Mandy for striking out on her own three years ago. Since then, she’s been turning out heirloom jewels incorporating rough cut gems and 18k green gold. She's got a knack for composition and color and each piece is one-of-a kind. Mandy's Spring collection, inspired by a recent trip to Argentina, will be presented at a Trunk Show this Friday and Saturday at the Gallery. Head over early, a selection of works from prior year's collections will be marked down. (And, honey, are you reading this? Mother's Day is right around the corner.)
