It's not so easy to take a pretty picture of a crepe, especially while my daughter is whining about her lunch getting cold while I obsessively rearrange the fork. Forgive me. But still head to Perk on Church, the newest outpost of Durham's Perk on Main. After all, who can resist a delicate pancake with fillings from sweet to savory?
My chicken, mushroom and cheddar version was the sort of Frenchified crepe you'd expect (light and delicious) while my daughter had the full-on Perk experience, a steak and gooey cheese rendition (she couldn't finish it, but I handily did) and the pure and simple butter and cinnamon sugar crepe, pictured above. The peeps at Perk think local and green and we like that (try the rich chocolate milk from Durham's Deerfield Farms) and their recycling and composting program produces only as much garbage as a typical large family per week. A lovely stop for breakfast or lunch.
