Head to New Haven for a seasonal, family-friendly food destination at CitySeed’s Winter Farmers’ Market on Saturday, January 13th from 10am – 1pm.
One of the only farmers’ markets operating year-round in Connecticut, CitySeed’s Winter Farmers’ Market opens for its 2018 season on Saturday, January 13th, at its usual location in the open, sunlit cafeteria space at Metropolitan Business Academy. The Winter Market will continue through the end of March, with Wooster Square and Edgewood Park Farmers’ Markets returning outdoors in April and May, respectively.
The Market features a variety of “weekend brunch” menu items that include hot drinks, sweet and savory baked goods and prepared offerings from regular vendors and a weekly rotation of food trucks/carts; farmers and vendors offering farm-fresh food items — root vegetables, greens, chicken, beef, pork, seafood, eggs, dairy products, cheeses, jams and more; and weekly activities and events for kids and adults. Musical entertainment is provided by a variety of local musicians.
Opening day features an array of special guests, including Seacoast Mushrooms, Sweet Treats by Sonia, Flatland Alpaca, Sister’s Wicked Good Soap, Savor, and Small Kitchen Big Taste. Food vendors include The Caseus Cheese Truck, showcasing their renowned artisanal grilled cheese; Coco Tamale, featuring hand-crafted vegan, vegetarian and meat tamales to eat on-the-spot or frozen to take home; and The Jitter Bus, offering hot, locally roasted coffee and espresso. Entertainment includes face-painting for kids and music, courtesy of local singer/songwriter Frank Critelli, for all ages.
