Cheap Shopping in New York

The recession is evident everywhere in New York—off duty taxis stop for you, empty storefronts, cheap hotel rooms—but not at Uniqlo. This Japanese import is consistently packed thanks to its ridiculous prices and on trend merch. The crop skinny jean in a bright spring palette is a must have for $39.90.  Uniqlo’s only stateside store is in Soho. ZARA, the Spanish chain, knows fashion and the plethora of peasant blouses for $39 to $59 proves it. Scoop up the skinny cropped cuff trouser for $35. If you can’t make it to NY, shop Zara in Stamford or Greenwich.
