I had the perfect beach chair. Navy canvas, wooden arm rests, with a pillow and a little pocket, in a backpack style for easy toting. Very classy. One day last summer, as soon as I got myself settled on the beach, blissfully watching the waves roll in, the fabric gave way and my tush hit the sand. So embarrassing. Since then I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement, and here are my picks. Not the cheapest option, but surely the chicest (it’s French, after all) and rolls up smaller than a yoga mat is the SoLazy canvas beach chair. And while I’m sorely tempted by this version by Tommy Bahama (backpack, pillow, wooden arms, cooler, even folds out to a lounge!), the logo is a turnoff. A good option is Land’s End lightweight backpacker, but I think the closest I’ll get to my original is this one.
