Renowned photographer, Joe Standart, returns to a favorite subject this summer: the people of New London. You may remember The New London Project, a series of his mammoth photographs that was exhibited around the city ten years ago. The “WE ARE” public art project intends to celebrate New London while taking the pulse of the immigrant in America today. The new photographs are extreme close-ups of the eyes of his subjects, inviting the viewer into a dialogue about who we are and what we have in common on this road of life. A timely and important installation throughout the city, with a kick off to unveil the 30 photographic murals (plus African music and stilt walkers!) on July 7th at 5:30pm at The Atrium 165 State Street.
