Bight, Guilford

bight

Some people arrive at the Guilford Yacht Club’s new eatery, Bight, by car. Many by boat. Some even by kayak. I’ve actually managed all three—affording me a chance to try pretty much everything on this casual summer spot’s menu. No matter your mode, the quintessentially Connecticut fare, coupled with the marina vibe, make it a welcome addition to the Guilford food scene.

Grab a stool at the counter overlooking the West River or take a seat at one of the awning-covered picnic tables. Next, breathe in the sea air, intoxicating views and order a local beer (they have a full bar, too) and a pail of their signature dirty chips—crisp, crunchy, and sprinkled with just the right amount of melty blue cheese—and we double  dare you not to smile.

Gourmet Galley Catering is manning the small, makeshift kitchen. Our group shared a Hot Lobster Roll—good lobster/butter/roll ratio—Lobster BLT—great option for the cold lobster salad lovers among us— the O’Nest Hamburger —yummy, served on toasted brioche— and Grilled Octopus—very Mediterranean—none of which were more than $20.

Open Wednesday through Sunday at 4pm and beginning Wednesday, July 17th, open for lunch, too. And do yourself a favor, stick around for sunset.
