Not just for the kids! Since my shoulder surgery in March, I’ve been using my travel backpack (#3 below) as an everyday bag if I need to lug my laptop. It’s lightweight nylon with plenty of pockets for all the daily essentials, plus a laptop sleeve. I may never go back to a tote! Here’s a round-up of the best backpacks:

2. Lots of bells and whistles: Caraasport Studio 2 in Oxblood $395

3. Travel friendly and lightweight, I love that it slips right over the handles of my luggage: TUMI Halle Backpack $235

5. Backpacks for yoginis! This one comes with a yoga strap: Sweaty Betty All-Sport Backpack $115

6. Give one, get one! For every STATE bag purchased, STATE hand-delivers a backpack – packed with essential tools for success – to a child in need. Nice!   Lorimer Nylon $90

7. Sturdy, classic and laptop friendly: Lo & Sons Travel Laptop Backpack $128

8. Investment piece. It’s not just about the designer label, that Longchamp Le Pliage fabric will last forever:  Longchamp Le Pliage Neo Nylon $395
