Stephen Clemente calls himself an Italian kid who just likes to cook, but I call him obsessed. Which is not a bad thing. His obsession is olive oil, and he’s sourced the best from Italy, Greece and Spain. His new shop sports tasting stations of oils that range from light to robust, delicately flavored with essences of Meyer lemon, basil, fresh tomato and blood orange. Stephen has a bit of the old-fashioned shopkeep in him, he’ll provide tastes of the products until you hit on a combo that strikes your fancy. For me it was blood orange oil with blood orange vinegar, mixed with a paint brush (never shake, never whisk!).
