Founded in 1926 by Harriet U. Allyn as a memorial to her whaling merchant father, Lyman Allyn, the Lyman Allyn Art Museum was established
for the community of southeastern Connecticut to use, enjoy, and learn about art and culture. The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is a Founding Member of the Connecticut Art Trail. The museum is always free for New London residents.
