Selene is a renaissance woman, indulging her customers with candies and confections at her charming Essex shop, while providing full service catering, ranging from authentic barbecues to elegant weddings.
Downtown at the bakery-sweet shoppe, red velevet, carrot and lemon cupcakes and coconut, chocolate cream and key lime pies line the case. Selene whips up custom birthday and elegant wedding cakes featuring her signature chocolate bow on the top of each cake. For holidays throughout the year, she creates themed desserts; and for those who want to indulge their pooch, homemade doggie treats are available.
Selene has been catering up and down the Shoreline for years, and has relocated her catering office to the Sweet Shoppe. She’ll come up with a menu within your taste and budget and manage everything from a casual backyard event to a formal wedding at any location. She works closely with Taylor Rental to ensure that just the right amount of supplies are provided for each event.
You can see Selene’s catering menu at Porky Pete’s website.
What The E List had to say:
Selene of Porky Pete’s BBQ fame, just opened a downtown candy store with Southern spirit and an old-timey vibe. Cases of towering cakes, giant pecan turtles and a basket of home-baked breads will draw you in, but it’s the adorable honor system “penny” candy that will keep you and your kids occupied for hours. For a treat that comes with a math lesson, choose your candy from the kid-friendly shelf and pay for it by placing your coins in the antique Minnie and Mickey banks. Give Selene a day or two notice and she’ll whip up a classic birthday cake with buttercream frosting or one of her famous chocolate cream pies. The catering arm of Porky Pete’s is housed here, too.
