I grew up on Cabaret (the movie); my sister and I belting out those tunes any chance we got, so I was thrilled to see it was first on Goodspeed’s seasonal line-up. Spending an evening ensconced at the Kit Kat Club is always a good thing, and Goodspeed’s staging is great!
The casting was spot-on, and the singing, choreography, costumes, and dance numbers were up to the theater’s high standards despite it being opening night. It’s no easy feat to follow in Liza Minelli’s footsteps, but Aline Mayagoitia as Sally Bowles did a fantastic job, and Emcee Helani Remy is riveting.
