SUMMARY:In Hine Sight – Eyes Wide Open
DESCRIPTION:Photo: Early Dawn Farm by Skip Hine \nAbout Skip Hine’s Garde Exhibition \nOpening Reception: Sunday\, August 16 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm before the Our House Concert \nFour years ago\, I published my book “Memories in Hine Sight – My Life With a Camera” highlighting my life and career as an award winning commercial photographer in my NYC studio or traveling the world shooting for major advertising and corporate clients. \nAs much as I love what I’ve been able to do for 50 years\, Deb and I now live full time in Lyme where I continue shooting for clients but\, most importantly\, emphasizing my own personal work. \nSince the book’s release\, my work has been shown in art galleries\, cover stories with Ink Magazine\, Estuary and Lyme/Old Lyme Neighbors\, schools\, libraries\, international podcasts\, permanent collections\, retail stores\, book signings\, and interviews by Channel 8’s Anne Nyberg\, CT Examiner\, and LymeLine. \nI finally had a chance to tell my story. \nDuring my career of incredible experiences that I never dreamed of\, I was fortunate to work with memorable actors and models\, famous athletes and CEOs\, stylists\, set builders\, and producers. I tried to take advantage of the opportunities which allowed me to shoot portraits for my own portfolio after the project was over; some of these are included in the show. \nGone are the days of needing $10\,000 cameras and a crew on set; I now shoot on a more personal level as a creative artist\, which allows me to be much more flexible by relying on what I learned all these years through photography and design without relying on AI manipulation to memorialize images of textures\, shapes and light in the world around us. \nBecause my parents died so young\, my dad’s photographs of our childhood motivated me to memorialize people and the scenes around me. \nWhether it’s a French château or a portrait of a local artisan\, there is a story behind every photograph. \nThis exhibition will be a part of my next book titled – “In Hine Sight – Eyes Wide Open”
