DESCRIPTION:Women played a huge and often under-recognized role in the Vietnam War—both militarily and culturally. They worked under combat conditions\, and carried invisible wounds long after the war ended. About 11\,000 U.S. military women served in Vietnam\, with the vast majority being nurses (Army\, Navy\, and Air Force). “A Piece of My Heart” is a vivid\, personalized portrayal\, giving names and faces to the thousands of women who served during the war\, and acknowledging their roles as essential\, even when they weren’t always appreciated at the time. The play has heart\, humor\, sadness and grief with a beautiful soundtrack of music from the sixties and seventies. \nTickets are $60 for adults; $55 for seniors; $25 for students of all ages (plus fee) and are available by calling the Playhouse box office at 860.767.7318 or purchase online.

DESCRIPTION:Please join Tidewater Lighting & Design and Cat Francucci Art at the CT Cancer Foundation on Thursday Oct. 1 from 5 to 7 PM for the First “Chair-ity” Fundraiser. Come view chairs that have been repurposed by various talented Trades and will be auctioned off during the month of October through a silent on line auction. The evening is the unveiling of the chairs before they go out to bid. Enjoy an assortment of cheese and crackers and sip on some wine while viewing these gorgeous chairs. This is a free event and all funds raised will benefit CT breast cancer patients and their families that are in need of financial assistance during their treatments. Also on exhibit will be artwork by artist Cat Francucci\, Patrick Ganino\, and Melissa Imossi. A portion of art proceeds art will benefit the CT Cancer Foundation.
