SUMMARY:"A Walk in the Woods" at Drama Works
DESCRIPTION:Drama Works Theatre Company presents “A Walk in the Woods” by Lee Blessing. The setting is a pleasant woods on the outskirts of Geneva where two superpower arms negotiators\, one Russian and one American\, have come to get away from the negotiating table for a little break. The Russian\, Botvinnik is Urbane and humorous but a master at the Soviet “hard line” approach to negotiating. The American\, John Honeyman\, new to arms negotiating\, is fervently idealistic about what can and must be done. Through their absorbing and revealing conversations\, we become aware of the deepening understanding between these two wise and decent men and also their deep frustration. \n“Not only one of the best dramas of the few dramas to hit Broadway . . . it also is the best comedy.” TIME MAGAZINE \n“A Walk In The Woods” runs February 24th\, 25th\, and March 3rd\, 4th and 5th. \nClick Here for more information and to purchase tickets.

SUMMARY:The Supreme Six: Women Justices of the Supreme Court

SUMMARY:An Exhibition in Four Acts
DESCRIPTION:Lyme Art Association Presents “Four Acts”\, Exploring Views of the World through Art \nThe Lyme Art Association invites you to its historic galleries this March to see “Four Acts”\, an exhibition showcasing the diversity of styles created by its talented member artists. Each juried show looks at the world through a different lens: “Long and Lean”\, “Abstracted”\, “Off the Press” and “Stillness: A Still Life”. \n“Long and Lean” features artworks with a 2:1 or 3:1 minimum ratio. From long sweeping landscapes to narrow vertical cityscapes\, this exhibition contemplates how a picture’s shape affects its meaning. Long and Lean is juried by Connecticut artist\, Rick Shaefer\, known for his large scale black and white artwork. \n“Abstracted” focuses on nonrepresentational and nonobjective art. Juried by renowned painter Cary Smith\, the exhibition explores the abstractions of life and the internal moments between artists and their materials. \n“Off the Press” is all about printmaking\, highlighting a variety of techniques and media in the print medium. The show is juried by printmaker Nomi Silverman\, whose work is in the collection of numerous museums and collections around the country and abroad\, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, The New York Public Library and The William Benton Museum of Art. \n“Stillness: A Still Life” is an ode to the artistic practice of making the ordinary extraordinary. For millennia\, artists have practiced their skills by painting objects found around the home and giving those objects meaning. Juried by Providence-based painter and psychologist\, Judy Vilmain\, the exhibition is an introspection into the world of still life. \n“Four Acts” runs from March 10 through April 27\, 2023. Meet the artists and mingle with friends at the opening reception on Sunday\, March 12 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. \nAbout the Lyme Art Association: The Lyme Art Association is a welcoming and thriving fine arts community founded in 1914 by the American Impressionists of Old Lyme. Located in an historic\, skylit 1921 building with a world-class gallery and art education studio\, LAA exhibits over 2\,000 paintings and sculptures each year in up to fifteen themed\, juried shows. LAA offers art instruction\, enrichment programs\, and other public programs to the community\, supporting artists at every level of their journey and cultivating a love of fine art. \nAdmission is free with contributions appreciated. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday\, 10 – 5pm\, or by appointment. \nFor more information on exhibits\, purchase of art\, art classes\, or becoming a member\, visit our website www.lymeartassociation.org or call (860) 434-7802. \nImage: Diane Brown\, “Tranquility #1”\, oil and cold wax
