Whether you’re due for a new pair of spectacles or you’re just ready to doll up your current look, you must pay a visit to The Eyeglass Lass. You’ll find this colorful, whimsical shop (previously located in New London) directly across from the Luxury Cinemas in Olde Mistick Village. I dropped in on a recent rainy Saturday to find Siobhan Burns, owner, and licensed optician, helping clients with earnest attention and expertise to choose, fit and care for the perfect frames for their unique needs. It was clear to me right away that this lass knows her stuff. A revolving (yet safely distant) door of customers continued in and out, one more delighted than the next. Such a treat to see during these continuous Covid days! Patrons are encouraged to try on any and all of the colorful, artful eyewear donning the sparkling shelves. Frames are sourced from independent designers, made in small batches and handcrafted from Budapest to Brooklyn and beyond. Safety precautions are taken seriously here and each pair is carefully cleaned and restocked to the display. Bring Siobhan your prescription (or she can retrieve it from your eye doc) and let the fun begin. Shop for more traditional glasses here, too plus sunnies, anti-fog balm, cleaning spray and cloths. Gift cards are available, too. Head to The Eyeglass Lass for a truly noteworthy optical experience. I think you’ll agree that Siobhan’s enthusiasm for eyewear is infectious! 27 Coogan Boulevard #23 in Mystic Hours: Tuesday – Friday 10am – 5pm Saturday 11am- 3pm eyeglasslass.com Visit The Eyeglass Lass’ Instagram page.
