Foodworks

I’ve always been envious of the Guilford folks who had a full-on Foodworks featuring the Shoreline’s first juice bar. No more. We’ve got our own. Foodworks made the move from Main Street, Old Saybrook, to bigger digs in the old West Marine building and have added said juice bar, an expanded selection of organic produce, dairy, bulk goods and, well, more of virtually everything. Me, I was riveted by the enormous frozen dessert section: bake-at-home cherry pie, my favorite Talenti Salted Caramel Gelato, mango sorbet squeeze pops and, for those of us who’d rather finish off the entire container, 150 calorie a pint (!) Arctic Zero ice cream. It’s as close to one stop quality shopping you’ll get this side of Whole Foods, with Fromage’s cheese counter across the street and Atlantic Fish Market just down the road. Here’s what I had for lunch: the Cosmic Monkey smoothie, a healthy and delicious blend of banana, coconut milk, almond butter, bee pollen, spirulina and chocolate syrup! Visit the new location and take advantage of their opening special: 15% off almost everything through the end of March. food-works.org
