SUMMARY:Essex Winter Series presents the Award-winning Trio Animoso
DESCRIPTION:On March 22\, 2026 the award-winning Trio Animoso will grace the stage at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek in Chester\, CT for our next concert of the EWS season. This phenomenal group of young artists – Sophia Jean\, flute; Julian Seney\, viola; and Subin Lee\, harp – formed at Yale and won First Prize at the Angel Padilla Crespo International Harp Competition. Continuing this season’s weaving of America’s 250th anniversary celebration into our performances\, the Trio will delight with a program called “French Impressions\, American Echoes.” Selections include Debussy’s Sonata for Flute\, Viola\, and Harp\, as well as pieces by Rameau\, Ravel\, Bonis and others. \nThis concert will be followed by two more: The Grammy® Award-winning choral ensemble of 12 male voices\, Chanticleer\, performing “Our American Journey” on April 12 and our rescheduled January concert\, now on November 8\, 2026. We are delighted that a new date could be arranged for “Timeless Bonds and Renewed Horizons\,” featuring a stellar collaboration of violinist Ani Kavafian\, cellist Peter Wiley\, flutist Tara Helen O’Connor\, and pianist Shai Wosner. Both remaining concerts take place at Valley Regional High School. \nConcerts are on Sundays at 3 pm and all seating is general admission. Adult – $45 / Student – $5. SUMMARY:Essex Winter Series Presents the Award-winning Terra String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Following its wonderful February jazz concert\, Essex Winter Series looks forward to the annual Fenton Brown Emerging Artists Concert\, showcasing talented young performers. On March 9\, they welcome Terra String Quartet to the stage at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek in Chester\, CT. This performance by these dynamic\, rising stars – Harriet Langley (violin)\, Amelia Dietrich (violin)\, Chih-Ta Chen (viola) and Audrey Chen (cello) – will delight with selections from Haydn\, Ravel and Beethoven. \nOn March 10th the Quartet will begin a four-day Community Outreach residency with Essex Winter Series\, which will take them to senior communities and schools throughout Middlesex and New London counties. These educational and entertaining sessions can also be taken advantage of at free and open-to-the public events at the Essex Library Association (March 12 at 4 pm) and\, in conjunction with the Community Music School String Ensemble\, the Essex Town Hall Auditorium (March 11 at 6 pm). \nConcert begins at 3 pm and is general admission. DESCRIPTION:The 46th season of Essex Winter Series begins in 2023 with its first concert on January 22\, featuring the New Haven Symphony Orchestra conducted by Donato Cabrera and with marimba soloist Aya Kaminaguchi. Back by popular demand\, the audience will enjoy performance selections by Clyne\, Strauss\, Séjourné and Dvorák. \nThis delightful event will be followed by the quite lively Jeff Barnhart and His Hot Jazz Collective on February 26. Gaining press worldwide\, Project: Music Heals Us String Trio will be the third concert\, on March 12\, with pianist Mihae Lee joining this ambassador group of Andre Janss (cello)\, Stephanie Zyzak (violin)\, and Brian Hong (violin and viola).
