DESCRIPTION:Join the Rotary Club of Essex for their 2024 Shad Bake\, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on the first Saturday of June for a community event to remember. This important culinary tradition started in 1958 and as you can see from our short video\, it is a quintessential spring ritual of the Connecticut River. \nEnjoy the bucolic setting\, local charm\, and great taste of local shad prepared the way of the ancient ancestors who cooked the fish on boards surrounding a great fire. This time-honored tradition has been married to modern conventions like our patented de-nailing process and Lyman Orchard’s pie! The old and new merge to create the perfect afternoon steeped in history\, tradition\, and culinary magic! \n• New England clam chowder\, oyster\, and clam appetizers start at 3:00 p.m. (at an additional cost)\n• Cash bar serving beer\, wine\, and soda open from 3:00-6:00 p.m.\n• Dinner is served between 4:30-6:00 p.m. \nIn addition to great food and drinks\, As Time Goes By – Community Swing Band will provide live music for your entertainment. \nClick to purchase tickets online for $40 to May 31\, $50 the day of the event.
