SUMMARY:History Happy Hours Resume at Madison Historical Society
DESCRIPTION:History Happy Hour Resumes! \nThe Madison Historical Society will resume its monthly History Happy Hour series on Friday\, September 22\, from 6 to 7 pm\, at the Society’s historic Allis-Bushnell House at 853 Boston Post Road\, Madison. \nThe first History Happy Hour of the season will feature former Yale University Art Gallery conservator Carol Snow in a presentation that will highlight one of the most interesting artifacts in the MHS collection: a telegram originally believed to have been signed by Abraham Lincoln—and recently found to be a forgery. Why would someone fabricate this document? This mystery is an interesting detective story that our expert speaker will explore. \nAdditional History Happy Hours of the 2023-24 season are scheduled for October 20 and November 17 in 2023 and January 19\, March 22\, April 26\, and May 26 in 2024. Each event features a brief but fascinating presentation about Madison history\, followed by a chance to socialize and enjoy adult beverages and hors d’oeuvres in the 1785 Allis-Bushnell House. \nThe MHS is delighted to partner with the Wine Thief of Madison\, which provides adult and alcohol-free libations for this popular series. All adults 21 and older are invited to meet fellow history buffs and to discover intriguing history tidbits while enjoying refreshments and a chance to socialize in an intimate historic setting. \nTo register in advance ($10 for nonmembers and $5 for MHS members) and to learn about other MHS events\, visit www.madisonhistory.org. Admission at the door is cash only.
