SUMMARY:Kongero Holiday Show at Deer Lake Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Want to hear some of the most beautiful singing on the planet? Then you’re all set. Straight from Sweden\, it’s Kongero\, one of the top a cappella groups on the planet\, with harmonies to slay. And it won’t be in some stuffy concert hall\, it’ll be at the equally beautiful Deer Lake Preserve in Killingworth on December 10th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. \nPrevious visiting artists from around the world say the hall reminds them of the big timber halls in the Nordic countries. Kongero’s sound transcends mere voices\, with dynamics as rich as any chamber orchestra; at times\, jazzy\, always soulful and frequently playful.. Bring a beverage of your choice\, and if the weather permits\, a pizza truck will be there so you can grab dinner if you’d like. If the weather is really nice\, come early and enjoy an early winter stroll around the lake and through the woods. We’ll have hot chocolate and apple cider ready for you! Beautiful holiday music in a beautiful setting\, what could be better.  This concert also serves as the year-end fundraiser for the ongoing preservation of Deer lake and the open spaces\, you you get two great things in one. \nClick for more information.

SUMMARY:Väsen at Deer Lake Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Fire In The Kitchen Concerts returns to Deer Lake Preserve for two shows this spring\, showcasing what an incredible place this has now become. The first concert features Väsen\, a legendary duo from Sweden\, who plays traditionally based music that hides their unique sense of humor. With songs named after IPA’s\, and sometimes with violinist Michael Marin playing a funky backbeat using an electric bass viola\, the sound may be a niche musical experience\, but always entertaining. The list of artists who recorded with them is long and varied\, from Snarky Puppy to Chris Thile. Critics have long considered Väsen to be one of the best folk bands on the planet for their over-30 year existence\, and for their formidable virtuosity\, the term “chamber folk” was coined. They rarely tour in the United States\, so for aficionados of the band\, this is a unique chance. \nThere will be a gourmet pizza truck on hand\, starting to serve at 5PM\, and throughout the show. Attendees are invited to bring their own beverage of choice. The audience is also encouraged to come and hike the property before the show to see just how special it is. While some concerts are held outside\, the weather will probably have us be inside the large dining hall\, where Fire In The Kitchen has already had Grammy-winning artists perform. Because of this\, seating will be limited\, and reservations highly recommended. \nThe concerts are being held at Deer Lake for several reasons. While any money after expenses for each concert go to Deer Lake to help pay off the loans left over after the purchase\, the main reason is to showcase the property. For Deer Lake to continue to thrive\, more events like this will need to be scheduled. They hope that people will also see the opportunity to use Deer Lake as a place to hold luxury camping wedding weekends\, perhaps corporate team-building events. The ever-popular Deer Lake Day Camp will obviously be a fixture in the future! \nVäsen website: vasen.se
