DESCRIPTION:The New Haven Night Market returns to downtown NHV’s historic 9th Square Neighborhood for a spring celebration Friday\, May 17 th\, 5-10PM! \nThis spring\, the New Haven Night Market will include 100 participants – artists\, entrepreneurs\, businesses and organizations – sharing their curated wares\, food\, drink\, art\, music\, culture\, causes & beyond! Partnering with the event\, 9 th Square Historic Neighborhood businesses will also open their doors\, some offering special one-night-only “Night Market Promos” to guests – discounts\, live bands\, specialty cocktails\, and more. \nExperience another year of expansion\, the Night Market grows to a full closure of Orange\, from Court to George and Crown from State to Church\, providing even more pedestrian-friendly perusing space. This expansion includes additional businesses on Orange Street\, including the skate shop Plush who will be open late! \nAnother feature will be a preview of CITA Park\, CT’s first black-led outdoor beer garden! At the corner of Chapel and Orange\, CITA Park highlights BIPOC-owned food & drink vendors\, along with a curated lineup of free & ticketed events later in the season that celebrate the richness of black and brown culture from beer festivals to food festivals\, dance parties to live concerts. At the Night Market\, CITA will feature live music all night long\, 3 food vendors\, a 360 Photobooth sponsored by 360 State Apartments and games by Sweets & Sounds! \nCelebrating AAPI Heritage Month\, the Market partners once again with aapiNHV to host a curated Pop-Up Market! Shop from 10 AAPI vendors – food & retail -\, participate in a community art activity\, learn more about the organization\, and learn Tai Chi from Aiping Taichi Master Shirley Chock! \nSome additional Night Market highlights include: \n– NHV & spring-themed flash tattoos on-site in Pitkin Plaza with Showoff Ink Artistry \n– Queer Artist Pop-Up Market at The New Haven Pride Center \n– Additional vendors inside Strange Ways \n– $5 parking at the 81 George Street Garage & 360 State Garage in partnership with LAZ Parking \n– Night Market poster & tote bag merchandise available created by 3 local artists \n– Pop-Up Block Party by and in front of Jazzy’s Cabaret \n– Bookmark and Button-Making Station with Ives Squared\, NHFPL \n– Late Night at the Institute Library featuring a jazz listening party & art gallery upstairs at The Institute Library \nThe Night Market Stage will feature the following amazing performances: \n5PM – New Haven Jazz Underground | 6PM – Timmy Maia Band | 7PM – New Haven Chinese Cultural Cooperative 8PM – The New Mosaic | 9-10PM – DJ Kasey Cortez closing out the night with a dance party \nThe Night Market prides itself with being a family-friendly\, (leashed) pet-friendly inclusive space for all.
