DESCRIPTION:Musical Masterworks is pleased to announce its first concert weekend of the new year\, taking place on February 15th and 16th at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme. \nIn this weekend’s concerts\, Musical Masterworks will turn to early music inspirations with the celebrated early music ensemble\, Ruckus. The entire program is based on works by J.S. Bach\, realized and reimagined by flutist Emi Ferguson and Ruckus. Ferguson first captivated our audiences during her Musical Masterworks debut last season alongside Caleb Hudson. \nArtistic Director and violinist Tessa Lark\, will join the ensemble\, and expressed her anticipation for the upcoming performances: \n“Ruckus is a remarkable ensemble that represents a unique phenomenon—artists who are equally rooted in early music traditions and modern sensibilities. They excel at curating compelling programs\, and I am thrilled to help them reimagine these extraordinary works.” \nThe featured performers include an all-star lineup of musicians\, combining the talents of:\n• Emi Ferguson (Baroque flute)\n• Clay Zeller-Townson (bassoon)\n• Caitlyn Koester (keyboards)\n• Doug Balliett (Baroque bass)\n• Coleman Itzkoff (Baroque cello)\n• Paul Holmes Morton (Baroque guitars)\n• Adam Cockerham (Baroque guitars)\n• Tessa Lark (violin) \nMusical Masterworks 34th season runs from October 2024 – April 2025 at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme at 4 Lyme Street.
