SUMMARY:Crafts and Cocktails with Hygienic Art
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly get-together called Crafts and Cocktails. You will learn how to make a signature craft cocktail to enjoy while making the craft project of the month. \nFLUID ART: This form of abstract art uses acrylics with a runny consistency to create psychedelic paintings. There are endless creative possibilities thanks to different ways to combine acrylic paints and there’s something so satisfying about watching it spill across a surface. \nThe social health benefits of creativity are not a new concept\, people have been experiencing it for years! \nThose that create in the presence of others are:\n*More likely to have wider social networks\n*More likely to have a sense of purpose and belonging in a group\n*More likely to have a reduced sense of social isolation and marginalization. \nSpace is limited so register soon at hygienic.org \nDate: Thursday\, January 19th from 5-7 PM \n\n\nEvent fee of $10 includes craft materials\, one craft cocktail w/the recipe card to take home.

SUMMARY:Summer Salon Des Independants
DESCRIPTION:Artwork by Glenn Hart \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModeled after the Salon Des Independants held in Paris since 1884\, New London’s outsider event is open to all artists; no judge\, no jury\, no fees\, and no censorship. \nThe Salon Des Independants movement was created by French Impressionists who were not accepted into the established Salon in the late 19th century. In an effort to protest the rigid art establishment\, these artists exhibited their work in cafes in the seamy sections of Paris. This revolutionary movement included such notables as Matisse\, Munch\, Rousseau\, Cezanne\, and Modigliani among others. The intent of the artists (and Hygienic Art) was to create an artistic event without jury or reward so that all forms of visual art expression and trends in the art of the moment would have a chance to be presented for public consideration without restriction. \nIn that spirit\, all artists are welcomed to submit one piece of artwork for the exhibition. Sign-in and hanging begins at 8 am until 6 pm. The exhibition opens to the public at 7 pm\, Saturday\, August 2st. The show runs until Friday\, September 10th. Art pick-up is Saturday 12-7 and Sunday\, September 12th\, 12-4 pm.
