SUMMARY:I-Park's November 6 Open Trails: Saturday in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Join I-Park for the Final Open Trails (FREE) event of the year on Saturday\, November 6 from 9 am to 2 pm. Experience the seven new multi-disciplinary environmental artworks created during the 3-week Site-Responsive Art Residency in September. In most cases\, you can get up close and enter\, touch or listen to them! In other cases\, the installations are interactive. Upon arrival\, you’ll be given a map\, some wayfinding instructions – and you’re invited to undertake your own self-directed exploration. \n2021 Site-Responsive Artists \nDie-cast (led by Brenna Geffers and doug greene)\, Pennsylvania\nGibson + Recoder\, New York\nPaul Golisz\, New York\nBenjamin Heller\, New York\nLe’Andra LeSeur\, New Jersey\nThomas Putzier\, Minnesota\nDaniel Shieh\, New York/Taiwan \nTwo additional site-responsive artworks were commissioned and installed earlier this year\, in celebration of I-Park’s 20th Anniversary\, one by artist Marvin Touré from Pennsylvania and another by New York artist Sui Park. \nThere are also about 40 additional art installations for you to enjoy. Visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic lunch\, pull up a patch of grass and enjoy a safe\, outdoor “art in nature” experience. For those interested in bird-watching\, try to arrive at 9 am and don’t forget your binoculars. \nAlthough this is a free event\, I-Park invites you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the I-Park Foundation. This will help to defray the considerable costs of presenting this artwork. A $20 contribution with your ticket\, to commemorate I-Park’s 20th Anniversary\, would be much appreciated! \nThe event is family-friendly for children of all ages. There will be a scavenger hunt for all the kiddos – with prizes along with some yummy apple cider donuts! Due to the fragility of the artworks and certain natural features at I-Park\, pets are not permitted on the I-Park grounds. \nArt lovers and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. However\, reservations in advance are REQUIRED (no drop-in’s please). For additional information\, write events@i-park.org or call 860-306-0636. \nPlease note that the gate opens at 9:00 am and closes at 2:00 pm (no admittance after 2:00). And all guests must exit the grounds by 3:00 pm. \nRegister here. \nMore info at i-park.org.
