SUMMARY:Ivoryton Playhouse is Back!
DESCRIPTION:What are the sounds of summer to you? For some\, it is the sound of the waves gently lapping on the shore or the birds calling to each other in the trees but for me it is the sweet melody of the circular saw\, cutting out flats and the hammer pounding the pieces together. Those sounds are even more precious this year as the Ivoryton Playhouse has been soundless for so long. \nThis summer\, to make up for a year of silence\, our plan is to fill the theatre with music and laughter; with rounds applause and soft “ahhs” of appreciation; with nonsensical\, madcap farce and moments of pure joy. \nIn short\, the Ivoryton Playhouse is back! And we are ready to share our home with you once more so that we can experience together the whole gamut of human emotions and leave\, content in the knowledge that we are not alone. \nCan’t wait to see you at the Playhouse! \n  \nSingle tickets go on sale Monday\, June 14th\, 2021.  \n  \nMurder for Two\nby Kellen Blair and Joe Kinosian \nThursday\, July 8 – Sunday\, August 1st \nEveryone is a suspect in MURDER FOR TWO – one actor is the detective\, the other plays all 13 suspects and they both play the piano! A zany blend of classic musical comedy and madcap mystery\, this 90-minute whodunit is a highly theatrical duet loaded with killer laughs. \nHaving Our Say: The Delany Sisters First 100 Years\nby Emily Mann\, adapted from the book “Having Our Say” by Sarah L. and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth\, based on the lives of Sadie and Bessie Delany \nThursday\, August 12 – Sunday\, September 5th \nCelebrate the story of a century as lived by “two strong\, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom” (Chicago Tribune) in this funny and heartfelt family drama. Trailblazers\, activists\, and best friends\, 103-year-old Sadie and Bessie\, age 101 take us on a journey that is “provocative and entertaining” (The New York Times).
