SUMMARY:Baking with Dorie\, A Virtual Event with RJ Julia
DESCRIPTION:Dorie’s got a new book just in time for holiday baking and gifting! Sign up for this virtual event\, order a copy of Baking\, and get it signed by Dorie! \nSay “Dorie Greenspan” and think baking. The renowned author of thirteen cookbooks and winner of five James Beard and two IACP awards offers a collection that celebrates the sweet\, the savory\, and the simple. Every recipe is signature Dorie: easy — beginners can ace every technique in this book — and accessible\, made with everyday ingredients. Are there surprises? Of course! You’ll find ingenious twists like Berry Biscuits. Footlong cheese sticks made with cream puff dough. Apple pie with browned butter spiced like warm mulled cider. A s’mores ice cream cake with velvety chocolate sauce\, salty peanuts\, and toasted marshmallows. It’s a book of simple yet sophisticated baking. The chapters are classic: Breakfast Stuff • Cakes • Cookies • Pies\, Tarts\, Cobblers and Crisps • Two Perfect Little Pastries • Salty Side Up. The recipes are unexpected. And there are “Sweethearts” throughout\, mini collections of Dorie’s all-time favorites. Don’t miss the meringue Little Marvels or the Double-Decker Caramel Cake. Like all of Dorie’s recipes\, they lend themselves to being remade\, refashioned\, and riffed on. \nInducted into the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America\, DORIE GREENSPAN is the author of Dorie’s Cookies\, a 2017 James Beard Award-winner for Best Baking and Dessert book; Around My French Table\, a New York Times bestseller that was named Cookbook of the Year by the IACP; Baking Chez Moi\, also a Times bestseller; and Baking: From My Home to Yours\, a James Beard Award winner. She lives in New York City; Westbrook\, Connecticut; and Paris. \nNovember 18th\, 7pm.

SUMMARY:The Flavors of Cuba Zoom Cooking Class with Weekend Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Let’s escape to Cuba for the evening with Chef Ani of Ani’s Table. She is of Cuban decent and will introduce us to the culture and flavors of her heritage in this zoom cooking class.  Start off the evening making Mojitos!  Who doesn’t like this minty refreshing cocktail?  Ani will instruct us how to prepare Picadillo– a Cuban comfort food: a savory and fragrant stew made of ground beef and tomatoes with raisins for a little bounce of sweet and olives for a kick of salty! We will also make Moros y Christians\, a traditional cuban rice and black beans dish. This is a perfect dish to learn to make for this summer’s outdoor dining.  And finally some Pastelitos de guava- these flaky guava-filled pastries are found in every bakery in Cuba. \nYou will be given the recipes and a detailed shopping and equipment list prior to class.  Cook part or all of the menu or just make a mojito and watch… you can decide! \nSaturday\, March 6th\, 6 – 9pm \nMore info and tickets here: https://www.weekendkitchenct.com \n
