I-Park, an international, multi-disciplinary artists’ colony set within a 450-acre nature preserve in East Haddam will welcome the public to Open Studios on Sunday, August 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. See what develops over the course of one month. An I-Park residency is an unconditional gift of time, space and fellowship. Because of the high stature of the selected artists, they are free to work on virtually anything they choose. The four-week time frame allows for research, experimentation and risk taking. They are inspired by their natural surroundings and one another. Open Studios visitors are encouraged to meet the artists in their studios and engage them in conversation: about their motivation, creative process and their lives as artists.

Our July residency session consists of seven artists: Visual Artists Elizabeth Di Donna, Keren Anavy and Shilpa Joglekar; Composers Gautier Abadie and James Nyoraku Schlefer; Moving Image Artist Gina Kamentsky and Creative Writer Tsering Lama. There are three non-U.S. artists – from Canada, France and India. Several of the artists are working on site-responsive works. There will be at least four new installations to visit after the studio crawl, including one by Christine M. Schröder from our June session.

This is an Open Studios event you don’t want to miss. The studio crawl runs from 2:00 to 4:00 pm followed by a light reception in the Common Area and nearby courtyard.

The event is free and family friendly. Art, nature and music lovers of all ages are welcome. Click for tickets or call 860-873-2468.
