I’m in love with my Hable Construction Tote:  heavyweight, impermeable canvas with a cheerful hand-blocked print, given to me by my friend, Jamie, who has the BEST store. (Unfortunately it’s in L.A., but click here to shop online and don’t hate me).

It’s unlikely that I’ll replace it anytime soon, but if you’re ready to toss your classic L.L. Bean, you might like this new start up from a couple of Madison moms.  East Wharf Bags are made from recycled sails with seaside themes and sturdy rope handles ($125). A beach hat is de rigeur and I live in this one from Roberta Roller Rabbit (pictured), it’s just the right combo of goofy and grandma. And packable, too. You’ll crave everything on their site: baby hats, sarongs, totes and cover-ups, all in their signature hand-blocked Indian prints.
