17th Annual Walk to End Homelessness

Southeast Connecticut’s 17th Annual Walk to End Homelessness will be held on Sunday, April 28, at Parade Plaza in downtown New London. Registration starts at noon, with the walk commencing at 1 p.m.

The event, organized by the New London Homeless Hospitality Center and Connecticut College, aims to raise awareness about homelessness and gather support for the center’s programs. Lead sponsor Yale New Haven Health/Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and gold sponsor Mohegan Sun are joined by several other generous sponsors. It’s anticipated to attract hundreds of participants.

Activities kick off at noon with registration, information booths, and entertainment by local band, Dogbite. The walk will feature remarks from community leaders before embarking on a 1.7-mile route through downtown New London and nearby neighborhoods, passing by landmarks and social service agencies.

The New London Homeless Hospitality Center, founded in 2006, provides emergency shelter and support services to adults experiencing homelessness in New London County. It strives to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

The Walk to End Homelessness is an outdoor event starting at Parade Plaza, across the street from the train station in New London, CT. This is a rain-or-shine event. In the case of rain, the walk kick-off festivities will take place at Hygienic Art Park from 12 pm – 1 pm.
