“Independence” by Lee Blessing at Drama Works

The drama “Independence”, written by Lee Blessing and directed by Ed Wilhelms opens at the Drama Works Theatre, 323 Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook on April 28th.
The show stars Darla Allen, Holly DeMorro, Chloe Parrington and Stacey Wilbur. The play centers around the dysfunctional Briggsl family. Her oldest daughter, Kess, a university professor in Milwaukie, comes home after four years away, at the request of her sister, Jo, a lifelong romantic and virgin who has found herself pregnant, and concerned about there mothers mental health. The mother, Evelyn, now volunteers at the mental hospital where she was recently a patient. Sherry, salty lounged and amoral, just wants to graduate high school so she can leave for good. The play is sometimes very funny and sometimes very serious. It’s a great cast.
