I-Park, an international, multi-disciplinary artists’ colony set within a 450-acre nature preserve in East Haddam, will be participating in Connecticut Trails Day on Saturday, June 1, 9 am to 4 pm, at 428 Hopyard Road, East Haddam, CT with Open Trails + Music + Bird Watching. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested, www.i-park.org, though donations to support our philanthropic mission are always welcome.
This annual event celebrates the state’s extensive network of hiking trails and aims to promote outdoor recreation and conservation. I-Park offers a particularly unique experience, blending an exploration of art as well as nature. It features a diverse range of art installations along its 20-odd moss-covered trails. Visitors will encounter forested areas, fields and meadows, ponds, streams and vernal pools – as well as interesting topographical features.
As 2024 is designated as I-Park’s Year of Music, visitors will find an especially festive vibe when they come to our public events this year. Music by “On the Trail” will be featured from 1:00 to 3:00 pm during the June 1 event. “On the Trail” is a modern acoustic band that explores everything from bluegrass to contemporary pop, from stunning instrumentals to beautiful traditional songs. Bring along a picnic basket, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the music.
Early birds can catch a guided bird walk by our dear friends from the Audubon Society, Mattabeseck Chapter, at 9:00 am. Because of the popularity of this walk, advance reservations should be made.
Rain date is June 2, 2024.
