Shani Mensing: Maker Space
A FREE virtual program to serve girls, age 10-16, interested in studying the academic areas of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
STEAMgirls participants meet and speak with accomplished young women, learning first-hand about the career successes women are experiencing in all areas of STEAM; providing young girls with knowledge that may ignite their passion for the future.
Shani Mensing is the Fimbel Maker & Innovation Lab Coordinator and Technical Specialist and co-founder of iDesign Studios Course. She works to assist the MHC community in academic collaboration with the Makerspace as well as across disciplines. She is currently a Ph.D student in the Math, Science & Learning Technology Education program at UMass Amherst. Mensing oversees activities, training, and workshops in the Fimbel Lab as well as maintaining and educating the community on the equipment housed in the Lab. She also supervises and trains Fimbel Lab student staff, on an ongoing basis, to assist in building interest and projects in the Lab.
