Experiences for Father’s Day

Most guys I know don’t want more stuff, and if they do, they want to pick it out themselves. Maybe an “experience” is just the ticket. Here are some ideas:

Dinners at the Farm, kicks off in July with their genuine farm-to-table dinners (produce is picked at the host farm) at White Gate Farm, and at Barberry Hill in August. If your guy loves a surprise, consider tickets to The Table, a new foodie extravaganza that pops up in unusual spots around the Shoreline, prepared by the experts at A Thyme To Cook. Five courses plus beer and wine have been dished up at an art studio, country inn, airport, even a castle. Buy tickets ($150 per) and find out where to go 48 hours before the next one on July 18th. Click here to find out more and for tickets.

Food loving dads might like one of the cooking classes available along the Shoreline. Amanda Cushman offers a weekly Fine Cooking Series at White Gate Farm, covering all the basic techniques from knife skills to braising. Our friends at Overland Experts in East Haddam provide off road driving lessons with their fleet of 4 x 4 vehicles on 2000 acres of terrain in East Haddam. Buy a gift certificate for a workshop or private driving lesson. Any guy would love some locally made Smoked On The Water jerky from Olive Oyl’s, a growler of local Stonington brew from Beer’d Brewing Company or a few pounds of Cliff’s house-smoked bacon.
