Happenings in Hadlyme

In my wanderings around the Shoreline, I make it a point to take the Chester Ferry when I can. It’s a 5-minute mini-vacation with expansive river views and, for me, a way to avoid I95 in summer. Now there’s even more reason, as Hadlyme Country Market, a favorite for breakfast pastries, sandwiches, and groceries, is offering up pizza! Folks who live in the area are thrilled with this new addition, and it’s certainly worth a trip! I gobbled down too many slices of a thin-crusted pie studded with plenty of bacon and tomato. YUM!

Then I strolled across the street to see what’s new at Black Whale Antiques. For those of us whose hearts flutter at the idea of browsing old things, this spot is one of my favorites. You’ll find an array of small American end tables at fantastic prices and a lovely selection of chests, highboys, and desks, too. I snagged a handmade tea table for $130 (thrilling!). If you’ve got the redecorating bug after a year stuck in our houses, a stop here is critical.
