High Nine Brewing, Deep River

There’s no shortage of breweries in CT these days, but each newbie seems to bring their own unique swagger. High Nine is the latest to land on the shoreline and it’s full of fun and games (and yummy beer). The location is a bit covert as its tucked into a group of non-descript warehouses in Deep River but if you follow the signs, you’ll find your way.

The space is decked out with a bar and lots of tables for swilling, tasting and bring-your-own food. They hope to fling open the garage doors and host food trucks in warmer weather. Lounging on the comfy leather couches or trying your hand at darts, foosball or shuffleboard is strongly encouraged as are kids (at your own discretion). The vibe is friendly and beer fans of all generations were sprinkled about the place when we were there. There’s even a pay-it-forward chalkboard behind the bar, where patrons can designate beers for others. If beer is not your thing, wine and prosecco are offered, too.

Opened in November of 2019, High Nine is owned and run by husband and wife, Spencer and Kersten Waldron and the Waldron Family. Spencer hails from Westbrook, originally and returned with his Utahn wife to pursue and share his “passion for sour and wild beers” with his home state. He’s well studied in subjects ranging from Mathematics to Fermentation and Chemistry and has done his time working in beer production and breweries on both coasts prior to opening High Nine.

Keep an eye out for specials events and new developments in the Spring.
