Hot Chocolate Bar at Guilford Marketplace

Are you getting a little sick of winter? Yeah, us too. But we found a little wintry treat to get you through the ides of March: the newish Marketplace at Guilford Food Center has THE antidote to winter depression. After an hour or two of cruising the boutiques along the Green for some Spring inspiration (and yes, there’s plenty!), we stopped in for a pick me up. Sure, you can order a yummy sandwich like The East Guilford (roasted turkey breast oozing with melted brie and pomegranate jam on a French baguette) but do not pass up the Hot Chocolate Bar. Choose from the Classic with a toasted marshmallow skewer, the Mexican with a spicy hit of guajillo chili and cinnamon, the Candy Cane studded with crushed canes and thin mints, the cardamom and allspice scented Chai, or the Salted Caramel with a drizzle of caramel sauce and sea salt. As you can see, we went a little cocoa crazy! The cocoa barista steams whole milk in the espresso machine then blends it up with rich Belgian chocolate for a cozy afternoon treat. $4.50 for a large mug. Good to know: wine and beer is now available at The Marketplace, making it a nice option for a reasonably priced dinner.
