Every year we wrangle the extended family together to watch some vintage car racing. Nestled in the picturesque Litchfield Hills, Lime Rock Park has a deep and rich history. Sir Sterling Moss, Mario Andretti, John Fitch and Paul Newman have all spent time on this track making automotive history. There is no better time to feel the track’s history than their annual Labor Day weekend event. The “Historic Festival” is a series of races and events throughout the weekend concluding with championship events on Monday. This is a rare chance to see classic Bugatti’s going head to head with Alfa Romeo’s that were the very cars used on Enzo Ferrari’s racing team before he started his own company. With their history and significance, these cars are museum-worthy, but thanks to the owners, spectators get to see and hear them as they blast around the track. The entire inside of the 1.5-mile track is open to the public including the pits. Bring a picnic and sit on the grass, or buy your lunch at one of the many concession stands.  www.limerock.com
